General Rules for the N-400

You may apply for naturalization if you meet the following requirements:

• You are at least 18 years old.

• You are a permanent Resident of the United States and you have been issued a permanent Resident Card.

• You have been a lawful permanent resident for:

A- At least Five years

B- At least Three Years AND You have been married to and living with the same U.S citizen for the last three years
AND your spouse has been a U.S citizen for the last three years.

• During the last five years, you have not been outside of the United States for 30 months or more.

• During the last five years, (or the last three years if you qualify under 3.B) You have not taken a trip out of the United States that lasted one year or more.

You May apply for naturalization up to 90 days before you meet the continuous residence.
